The Roc City Singers Triple-Threat Training Course

The Roc City Singers is a premier group of 20 singers and dancers, currently ranging in age from 15-25, and lead by RAPA’s Artistic Director Judith A. Ranaletta. Steadfast in her mission to develop the complete artist -the triple threat- Judith also strives to develop in her student’s self-confidence, responsibility, discipline, focus and professionalism.  The Roc City Singers offers a unique opportunity for young performers to grow artistically, as well as personally.  Judith has developed and nurtured hundreds of young performers, dozens who are now successful performing artists worldwide.

Joined by instrumental director, principle pianist and arranger, Fred DiCesare, as well as New York choreographer, Kris Ashley this course will take you through a Roc City Singer Experience.  You will sight read music, sing through some of the group’s repertoire, experimenting with vocal technique and exploring concepts of placement, resonance, and vowel modification, to adapt to various musical styles. You will also be introduced to basic acting techniques to develop self-confidence and a sense of meaningful purpose on stage, and learn choreography from our current repertoire.  In addition, you will be joined by a few current Roc City members who will assist class and offer you a complete understanding about the group and what incredible opportunities come with the honor to represent the Greater Rochester Region in the performing arts.

Pre-requisite: Intent to pursue the performing arts on a professional or semi-professional level. Must be 13yrs and Up.

Congratulations to Judith’s current private voice and acting student, 17 year old Michael Leadbetter, member of Roc City Singers, 2nd lead in soon to be released film “King’s Faith.” Young Arts Winner and President Arts Scholar Nominee.

Young Kids Program! Open to Ages 5-12

Incorporating performing arts in a learning atmosphere is a great way for children to gain self-confidence and body awareness when learning concepts such as letters and numbers. Utilizing fine and gross motor skills gives students another opportunity to understand the theories taught in Math, Science, and English. In addition, dance and theatre is a great outlet to introduce children to other cultures/customs and celebrate learning using both sides of the brain. It is amazing what children are able to retain at such a young age, and how creative movement and application can directly affects a young child’s development simple because they are exposed to it!

Intro to Keyboard/Music Theory

Mr. DiCesare has developed simple techniques to teach music theory that makes the concepts quickly usable on piano.  College bound students will receive an understanding of harmonic structure (chords) and accompaniment patterns that can help with playing all styles of music.  The ability to read simple piano pieces will enhance the total experience.  Students must have a keyboard/piano at home for practicing purposes between lessons. “Triple Threat” students (sing-dance-act) need the ability to accompany themselves to perform more effectively in the “music” world.

*Call for semi-private/private lessons.
